George Stapleton
Biography
George first hit the headlines as a schoolboy international, scoring for Scotland against England in a 2-2 draw at Fir Park in Motherwell. His first taste of the Highland League was with Inverness Thistle, but after only half a season at Kingsmills, he was snapped up by Nairn County.
He remained at Station Park for five seasons. At the end of the 1969-70 season, following protracted negotations over his transfer fee, George left Station Park to join Inverness Caledonian, much to fans' consternation.
