Les Fridge's Nairn County side continued their build-up towards the big kick-off on August 7 with a pre-season victory over Lossiemouth United at Grant Park although this time they were left to sweat a bit with Juniors side refusing to give up the ghost in stark contrast to Saturday's convincing win over another Juniors club, Strathspey Thistle.
The travelling Nairn support were given their first glimpses of winger Peter Lynch although the diminutive ex-Ross County man had to be replaced on the half-hour because of injury but not before having a profound impact on the match.
County broke the deadlock only two minutes in when Willie Barron cut in from the left and laid the ball on a plate for Gary Farquhar to smash home first time from all of 30 yards out.
It should really have been two for the visitors when Lynch made a tremendous, lung-busting run down the right wing, weaving in and out of players and leaving three for dead before cutting the ball back for John McDonald upon reaching the bye-line but the on-loan Ross County man somehow managed to fire wide.
The home side equalised just on the half hour mark when the ball was knocked past Michael Rae from the edge of the box.
But Nairn recovered from this setback to re-take the lead five minutes later when Sanderson cut the ball back perfectly for strike partner McDonald, who had enough time to compose himself and take a touch before slamming the ball home from 15 yards.
Less than a minute after the restart and Nairn had made it three when Farquhar played an intelligent flick on the edge of the area to Sanderson who clipped the spinning ball over the head of the outrushing keeper and into the net.
It was four for Nairn only a matter of minutes later when Gary Farquhar grabbed his second of the night by curling a low free kick from 20 yards round the wall and into the keeper's bottom left hand corner.
Johnny Seaton then made it five in the 52nd minute when he controlled a squared ball on the edge of the area before rifling a left-footed shot past the helpless goalkeeper.
Lossiemouth United did pull goals back in the 56th and 64th minute before County grabbed their sixth of the night in the 68th minute when Willie Barron made another positive run down the right wing and cut inside before squaring the ball to Scott Kellacher to smash home from 15 yards to mark his first match of pre-season with a goal.
Lossie added their fourth goal of the night when Nairn failed to clear their lines allowing a clearence to be pounced on and tucked home.
All in all a good work out for Les Fridge's side where all of the Nairn players who travelled again got a decent run out.
