Nairn came away with a well deserved and hard fought for point tonight away to Forres. County gaffer Ronnie Sharp made 3 changes, dropping Alan Boyd and Mo MacMillan to the bench and the injured Stevie Sanderson and replacing them with himself, Dave Macdonald and Willie Barron. Both teams looked to score early on and Forres came close through former Nairn man Gary Ross. Willie Barron then struck the bar for Nairn, which looked like an intended cross. Barron then produced a fine save from the Forres keeper forcing him the dive to his bottom left hand corner to stop Nairn going in front. But it was Forres who made the break through when Neil Whites run to the front post at a corner wasnt tracked by the Nairn defence who were made to pay when he headed home. Nairn looked to battle back late on in the first half but created no claer cut chances.
It didnt take the visitors long to equalize though as Scott Kellacher pounced on a mix-up between the Forres goalkeeper and sweeper to trundle the ball over the line. Barron again hit the cross bar for Nairn, and again from wide as he tried to catch the keeper off his line. County took the lead on 66 minutes when Gary Farquhar drilled home a Nairn corner from the edge of the box. Nairn were all guns blazing by the is point and had 2 chances to ki9ll the game off, one which fell to Kellacher and the other Barron. But Forres grabbed an equalizer when Andy Macleod slid the ball other the line from 12 yards out. County keeper Garry Stewart kept Nairn in the game when he made a fine stop late on in the game.
Nairn will look to build upon this performance to take all 3 points when they visit Fort William in the final game of the season on Friday night.
