Steve Sanderson (47)
Iain Brooks (55)
Scott Kellacher (90)
Nairn gaffer Ronnie Sharp made 2 changes to the side that battled to a draw last week at Forres by replacing the want-away Willie Barron with Neal Sinclair and the unavailable Steven Edwards with Scott Ogston.
Nairn started the better of the 2 sides and had several half chances, the best of which fell to the frontline of Sanderson, Kellacher and Ewing and right winger Holmes. But the game sprung into life after half an hour when Sanderson had a shot cleared off of the line and out of player. From the resulting corner a Holmes overhead kick was headed off of the line when it appeared the ball had crossed. Holmes came close again after 44 minutes but his acute angle shot was blocked by the keeper.
The second half was far better value for the paying fans as Nairn took the lead after 1 minute of the half when a Holmes cross from the right was met by Sanderson's looping header which went over the keepers head, off of the cross bar and into the net. County increased their lead on 55 minutes when a corner move worked a treat as Kellacher's swung in ball deflected off Brooks' shin and through the keepers legs to make it 2-0 to Nairn. Kellacher himself came close to making it 3 but his shot from 12 yards went narrowly wide of the keepers left hand post. The visitors misery was increased after 75 minutes when Paul Macdonald was shown a straight red for fouling Garry Ewing then proceeding to kick the ball at his head while Ewing was on the deck. But County finished off the day's scoring when Kellacher rounded the helpless Fort keeper and sweeped the ball into the empty net on 90 minutes.
Ronnie Sharp will be happy with his troops' second half display which saw them produce 3 goals but will be disappointed that the scoring was opened in the first 45. Nairn's next game is in the Qualifying Cup at home to Deveronvale on 31/8/02 at Station Park.
