Match Report

Both sides had team difficulties, but Army newcomers introduced proved polish players, particularly Glendinning, Nairn's outside right, who is a Glasgow junior.

Feature of the game was orgy of second half scoring after a rather dull first half. Nairn fully merited their 6-3 victory over Forres, which took them into the second round of the North of Scotland Cup.

Only point of the first half was scored by Birrell from a free kick. Jones increased Nairn's lead two minutes after the restart, and then Glendinning completely baffled four defenders to make Nairn's total 3-0. Clark scored a fourth before Robertson notched Forres's first counter from close range. Boyle scored a fifth for Nairn then Whyte, the Forres full back went upfield and scored Mechanics' second goal.

Glendinning's drive forced Kelman to palm out, and Boyle scored Nairn's sixth from the rebound. Whyte scored a third for Forres near the end.
